Jeff Williams has pitched for the Australian national team in the Olympics twice and has appeared in two Japan Series for the Hanshin Tigers. Williams struck out 11 in 8 1/3 innings in the 1997 Intercontinental Cup and went 1-1 but his 9.72 ERA led Australia. He was horrendous in the semifinals against Japan but Australia bounced back to win Bronze, its first Medal ever in a worldwide international event. In 2007, Williams had 45 consecutive scoreless games from May 3 to September 18, with his ERA falling to 0.15 by the end of that amazing stretch. Williams slumped after that to finish with a 0.96 ERA and 1-2 record in 60 outings as a set-up man for Kyuji Fujikawa.
