Biographical Information[edit]

Jason McEachern pitched in the Tampa Bay Rays system from 2008 to 2012, peaking at Single-A. He began his pro career at 17 years old.

Taken as the first pick of the 13th round of the 2008 amateur draft and signed by scout Brad Matthews, he began his pro career on the right foot, going 1-0 with a 1.44 ERA in 9 games (2 starts) for the Princeton Rays that year. He followed that with a 2-3, 2.35 ERA line in 14 starts between two clubs in 2009. He slumped to 4-11 with a 5.68 ERA in 27 games (24 starts) for the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2010 (he led the Midwest League with 20 home runs allowed), then rebounded slightly to go 4-2 with a 4.17 ERA in 11 starts between two clubs in 2011. He wrapped up his career with a move to the bullpen, going 2-2 with a 2.80 mark and 68 Ks over 61 innings in 28 appearances for Bowling Green.

Overall, he went 15-18 with a 3.86 ERA in 89 games (51 starts). In 333 innings, he allowed 322 hits and 125 walks (1.342 WHIP), while striking out 290 batters. He spent five years in the minors, but was out of professional baseball by the age of 21.
