Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jason Fernandez played in the minor leagues from 2006 to 2010. He was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the 11th round of the 2006 amateur draft and was signed by scout Kelcey Mucker. Though he briefly reached Triple A in 2008, he never made it to the majors. His final year, 2010, was spent in independent baseball.

Perhaps his best campaign was 2007, when he went 8-2 with a 2.77 ERA in 31 games (11 starts) for the Kane County Cougars. He managed a 10-9 record—his only season with double-digit wins—in 2008, despite posting a 1.503 WHIP between three teams.

Overall, Fernandez went 32-30 with a 4.08 ERA in 121 games (77 starts). In 540 1/3 innings, he had 241 walks and 287 strikeouts.
