Biographical Information[edit]

James McMullin was a pitcher and outfielder for three games for the New York Metropolitans of the American Association in 1887.

One of the few things known about him was that he was originally from California and had pitched for a semi-pro team in San Francisco, CA. Because it was known that he lived in the Mission district, researchers were able to narrow down the candidates to one person, who was also a carpenter. That man had a troubled life after baseball, as he was convicted of killing his lover, served several years in prison, and then committed suicide.
