Biographical Information[edit]

J.J. Picollo has been a player and a scout.

Picollo was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 16th round of the 1989 amateur draft out of high school and by the Reds in the 14th round of the 1993 amateur draft (between Kimera Bartee and Ryan Radmanovich). He was 1 for 13 with a walk and 6 strikeouts while playing error-free ball as a backup catcher for the '94 Oneonta Yankees in his only season as a pro player.

Picollo coached at George Mason University (3 years) and George Washington University (2 years). He then joined the Atlanta Braves as a scout in 1999 and remained with them until 2005, working his way up to Director of Minor League Operations. As a scout, he signed Dan Meyer and Anthony Lerew. He then moved to the Kansas City Royals as Director of Player Development; as of 2012-2013, his title was Assistant General Manager - Scouting and Player Development.
