Biographical Information

Ivan Contreras began his minor league playing career in 2006 in the Los Angeles Angels organization. He moved to the Toronto Blue Jays player development system in 2011 where his spent his final two years as a player. While with the Angels, he reached AA in both 2009 and 2010. For his minor league career, Contreras hit .258/.318/.365 while appearing in 396 games. Contreras was primarily a second baseman, though he played other positions as needed.

In 2021 Contreras joined the Detroit Tigers organization and served as a development coach for the DSL Tigers. The next year he was an infield coach for the DSL Tigers 1 squad. It is unknown if he coached in 2023. Contreras was an infield coach for the DSL Tigers 1 squad in 2024-2026.
