Biographical Information[edit]
Issei Morita was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2007 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first three seasons. He crushed a homer against Maximo Nelson in his first career at-bat, and he was the first player who was born in Heisei era to do so. Morita had a 8-for-32 record in 2011, and he went 5-for-24 in 2012. He was 4-for-19 in 2013, and he crushed 16 homers with a .276/.378/.484 batting line in the NPB Farm Leagues. Morita led the Western League in homers and RBI. However, he failed to reach the big club in 2014, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Morita hit .227/.277/.387 with 17 hits in 3 seasons in NPB.
