Biographical Information[edit]
Isamu Uchio played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Uchio signed with the Hankyu club in 1949, and he hit .297/.348/.344 in 24 games in his first season. He slumped to .209/.275/.281 in 1950, then he recorded a .253/.282/.324 batting line in 1951. Uchio played 47 games with a .214/.290/.339 batting line in 1952, and he went 4-for-25 in 1953. He was hitless in 5 at-bats in 1954, and he announced his retirement. It's worth noting that although Uchio was born in the USA, he was registered as native player because he was Japanese and signed before 1950.
Overall, Uchio hit .227/.284/.305 with 145 hits and 7 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
