Biographical Information[edit]

Isamu Kinoshita played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Kinoshita signed with the Osaka Tigers in 1938, and he had a 2.45 ERA in 2 games in his first season. He went 4-3 with a 3.84 ERA in 1939, and he improved to 17-11 with a 1.89 ERA in 1940. Kinoshita was 10th in wins in the Japanese Professional Baseball League, between Masayoshi Nakayama and Hachiro Miwa. He then had a 5-3 record with a 1.24 ERA in 1941, and he went 7-7 with a 1.92 ERA in 1942. Kinoshita jumped to the Kinki Nihon club in 1944, and he pitched one game with a 2.00 ERA.

After World War II, Kinoshita returned to the mound with the Taiyo Robins in 1948. He was 17-13 with a 3.42 ERA that season, and he went 5-13 with a 5.72 ERA in 1949. Kinoshita then joined the Nishitetsu Lions when the JPBL split into two leagues in 1950, and he was 11-12 with a 4.15 ERA. He gave up the first home run of the Pacific League to Katsuki Tokura on March 11. Kinoshita went 2-5 with a 4.10 ERA in 1951, and he had a 2-3 record with a 4.11 ERA in 1952. He announced his retirement after that season, and he coached Sakai High School in 1955, Yonago Higashi High School from 1956 to 1958, Oda High School from 1959 to 1963 and Yonago Technical High School from 1964 to 1969.

Overall, Kinoshita was 70-70 with a 3.32 ERA, struck out 344 and pitched 1,225 2/3 innings in 11 seasons in NPB.
