Biographical Information[edit]
Ian Forster played college ball with the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets and spent the first three seasons on the junior varsity squad. A class of 2018 graduate, Forster had one double, one walk, one run scored, and one RBI in 12 games played, all during the 2018 season. Forster graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. He went on to graduate school and earned a master's degree in Health and Physical Education/Fitness in 2020 from Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU).
Forster began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach while studying at ENMU during the 2019 season. He then served as the head coach of the Omaha Railriders of the Corn Belt College Summer League. The College of Central Florida hired Forster as an assistant coach in the fall of 2019. The man had a busy year!
The Cleveland Indians hired Forster away from Central Florida in 2020 for a hitting coach position with the DSL Indians. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the season never happened. Forster was the hitting coach for the DSL Indians Blue in 2021. He took a step away from the field in 2022 when he worked as a Hitting Development Coach at the now Cleveland Guardians Arizona complex.
The Guardians promoted Forster to assistant hitting coach of the Akron RubberDucks in 2023. He was the hitting coach for the ACL Guardians in 2024 and one of two hitting coaches for the RubberDucks in 2025. With Forster’s assistance, the RubberDucks led the Eastern League in triples (43, most in Double-A) and walks (583), while ranking top-three in: runs (623, second), RBI (578, second), and on-base percentage (.326, third).[1] Forster was a hitting coach for the Lake County Captains in 2026.
