Biographical Information[edit]
Hye-ryeon Won played for the South Korean women's national team.
She debuted in the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup. In her first game, she relieved Rak-yung Kim to close out a 10-0 win over Pakistan (in Pakistan's debut game). She got Zeba Manzoor Hussain on a grounder, walked Zahida Ghani and retired Humaira Khan on a grounder. Starting against Venezuela, she retired one of five batters (Osmari Garcia); three got hits and one reached on an error. Mi-ran Lee relieved; Won was charged with 3 runs (one earned) in a loss to Oriannys Hernandez. She also pitched against Canada, retiring one of four batters. [1] In the 2017 Women's Baseball Asian Cup, she was rocked in her mound outing against champion Japan (6 H, 6 R, 4 ER in 1 IP) but hit .273/.400/.364 with 4 runs in 5 games, handling 20 chances error-free, serving as a 1B/OF. In the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, she was used at first, right, pitcher and DH. She hit .211/.375/.211 with four RBI in seven games, handled 25 chances without a miscue and had a 9.33 ERA in three pitching appearances. She did save Rak-yung Kim's win over Hong Kong. Only Bit-na Lee had more RBI for the Koreans in the event. [3] She hit .500/.667/.727 in the 2019 Women's Baseball Asian Cup and had a 9.00 ERA in two games pitched; she was named to the event's All-Star outfield alongside Sahoo Binu and Natsuki Yonetani.
