Biographical Information[edit]
Hubert Garfield Wright, known as Beefy Wright, was a minor league player with the High Point-Thomasville Hi-Toms in 1953.[1] He graduated from Guilford College and later received a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.[2] Wright coached at Allen Jay High School and Broward Junior College before becoming head baseball coach at the University of South Florida, where he led the program in its first game in 1966.[3][4] At USF, he also taught physical education and teacher preparation classes.[5]
