Biographical Information

Hiyu Motoyama has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Motoyama won three Best Nine awards and a MVP in his college career, and he was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 4th round of the 2020 NPB draft; the scout was Takayuki Saito. He recorded a .255/.322/.332 batting line with 3 triples in 2021 (splitting short with Naomichi Nishiura), and he scored a run as a pinch-runner for José Osuna in 2021 Nippon Series Game 2. The Swallows beat the Orix Buffaloes in 6 games. Motoyama was 4-for-27 in 2022 as Hideki Nagaoka took over short, and he went 7-for-39 in 2023. The Swallows then traded him to the Seibu Lions for Tetsu Miyagawa, and he hit .143/.175/.208 in 33 games in 2024.
