Biographical Information[edit]
Hisashi Takeuchi represented Japan in the 2008 World University Baseball Championship (0-1, 12.00 for the Silver Medalists, losing to the USA's Chris Hernandez) and 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week (0 R in3 1/3 IP). He was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 3rd round the 2009 NPB draft, and he notched 17 saves with a 4.93 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2010. He led the Western League in saves (5 ahead of #2 Hiroki Kongo), and he also pitched 5 games with a 7.11 ERA for the big club. Takeuchi then had a 3.94 ERA in 5 games in 2013, but he only pitched one more game for the top team in 2015 before he announced his retirement after that season.
