Biographical Information[edit]
Hiroyuki Sato was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1988 NPB draft, but he only got 14 at-bats for the big club combined in his first eight seasons. He also hit .267/.317/.359 in 60 games for the Gate City Pioneers in 1990, fielding .933 at short. He was traded to the Yomiuri Giants for cash in 1996, but he didn't play any games for their top team and he was traded again to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Satoshi Iriki in 1998. Sato was 1-for-10 in 19 games in 1999, and he was released. He returned to the Carp, but he only got 2 more at-bats for the top team before he announced his retirement in 2001.
