Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroyuki Mori played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Mori was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 4th round of the 1985 NPB draft, and he spent his first three seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He also played 109 games with a .208/.297/.290 batting line for the San Jose Bees in 1987. Mori went 13-for-41 in 1989, and he recorded a .282/.360/.385 batting line in 1990. He improved to .303/.387/.513 in 1991, then his batting line fell to .140/.189/.180 in 1992. Mori then hit .295/.371/.377 in 1993, and he only got 5 at-bats in 1994. When Kazuhiro Kiyohara was moved to designated hitter spot because of his shoulder injury, Mori became Seibu's backup first baseman (behind Ken Suzuki) in 1995 and he had a .289/.362/.444 batting line in 70 games. He went 9-for-43 in 1996, and he announced his retirement after staying in the minors in 1997. Mori coached the independent Kagawa Olive Guyners from 2005 to 2006, then he became the batting coach for the Lions from 2009 to 2010 and for their minors team from 2007 to 2008. He also coached Chiba University of Commerce High School from 2018 to 2021.

Overall, Mori hit .275/.348/.411 with 155 hits and 15 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
