Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroshi Yamada pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years. His brother Tsutomu Yamada also played in NPB.

Yamada was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 2nd round of the 1994 NPB draft, and he spent his first two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He went 3-2 with a 2.07 ERA in 1997, and he had a 2-3 record with a 4.50 ERA in 1998. Yamada only pitched 3 games in 1999, and he suffered from elbow injury and missed the entire 2000 season. The Dragons then traded him with Hitoshi Taneda to the Yokohama BayStars for Toshio Haru, and he only got 9 appearances combined in the next two seasons. Yamada recorded a 3.55 ERA in 23 appearances in 2003, and he pitched 30 games with a 3.08 ERA in 2004. However, he was placed in the minors for the entire 2005 season, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yamada went 9-16 with a 3.89 ERA, struck out 164 and pitched 203 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
