Biographical Information

Hiromasa Saitoh was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the first round of the 2017 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Daiki Tajima; the scout was Jun Takeshita. He was 1-3 with a 7.02 ERA in 2018. He pitched 16 1/3 shutout innings for the Melbourne Aces in the 2018-2019 Australian Baseball League, yielding just six hits; he had one save. Back in Japan, he pitched 9 games with a 6.75 ERA in 2019. Saitoh allowed 12 runs in 10 innings in 2020, and he never returned to the big club again before the Lions traded him to the Softbank Hawks for Daiju Nomura after the 2023 season. Saitoh stayed in the minors in 2024, and he announced his retirement.
