Biographical Information

Hiroki Takahashi represented Japan in the 2012 World Junior Championship, hitting .455/.520/.636 as their main left fielder. He was 5th in average (between Reese McGuire and Alberto Mineo), 5th in OBP (between Young-jun Yoo and Jun-suk Song), 4th in slugging (between Song and McGuire) and 4th in OPS (between Song and McGuire). The Hiroshima Carp selected him in the first round of the 2012 NPB draft after they lost the lotteries for the rights to Yudai Mori and Tatsushi Masuda. Takahashi spent his first five seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he only got 21 at-bats combined with the big club. He was 12-for-43 in 2019, and he went 3-for-15 in 2020. Takahashi announced his retirement in 2021.
