The Giants then sent him back to the Braves for Yanagita, and he recorded a 7.29 ERA in 8 games in 1981. He was turned into a submariner in 1982, and he had his career year. Nagamoto went 15-4 with a 3.34 ERA, and he was 3rd in wins in the Pacific League (between Hisashi Yamada and Norihiro Mizutani). He was 7-9 with a 4.84 ERA in 1983, but his ERA rose to 5.44 in 14 games in 1984 and he announced his retirement.
