Biographical Information

Hiram Montel was born in New York, but lived most of his life in Fall River, MA, where he established himself as a fine pitcher on local teams from the mid-1880s into the 1890s. His name was typically printed as Montel when he was a player, though his family name was Montle. Apart from pitching around Fall River, he played in the minor leagues with Poughkeepsie in 1886, Haverhill and Lawrence in 1887, in the Rhode Island League in 1890, and with Olean and Lewiston in 1891. He died in Fall River in 1924.
