Biographical Information[edit]

Hiram Montel was born in New York, but lived most of his life in Fall River, MA, where he established himself as a fine pitcher on local teams from the mid-1880s into the 1890s. His name was typically printed as Montel when he was a player, though his family name was Montle. Apart from pitching around Fall River, he played in the minor leagues with Poughkeepsie in 1886[1], Haverhill and Lawrence in 1887, in the Rhode Island League in 1890, and with Olean and Lewiston in 1891. He died in Fall River in 1924[2].
