Biographical Information[edit]
Hideo Kato was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 2nd round of the 1966 NPB draft, and he pitched 11 games with a 5.48 ERA in 1967. He was 0-1 with a 3.54 ERA in 1968, and he stayed in the minors in the next four seasons. Kato recorded a 2.57 ERA in 21 relief outings in 1973, and his ERA was 3.68 with 3 saves in 38 appearances in 1974. He pitched 15 games with a 3.77 ERA in 1975, but he didn't reach the big club in 1976 and he announced his retirement.
