Biographical Information[edit]

Haruo Medoki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Medoki signed with the Taiyo Robins in 1949, but he didn't get many chances as the Robins already had star catcher Shoji Arakawa. He was 5-for-21 in '49, and he only got 5 at-bats in 1950. Medoki went 8-for-47 in 1951, and he was named their starting catcher after Arakawa left the team. He hit .223/.268/.333 with 7 homers in 1952, and he collected 21 doubles and 12 homers with a .273/.311/.433 batting line in 1953. He tied Shigeru Chiba, Masato Monzen and Kazuo Higasa for 8th in homers in the Central League. Medoki slumped to .215/.260/.309 in 1954, and he struggled again in 1955 as his batting line fell to .197/.246/.274 in 105 games. Medoki then recorded a .220/.271/.317 batting line in 1956, and he blasted 8 homers with a .263/.321/.425 batting line in 1957. He hit .169/.229/.261 in 68 games in 1958, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Medoki hit .227/.274/.341 with 509 hits and 50 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
