Biographical Information[edit]

Hal King was a journeyman catcher with the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds in the 1960s and 1970s. The lefthanded-hitting King joined the Reds in mid-1973. He hit three pinch-hit home runs down the stretch including a grand slam on July 9th against the Montreal Expos and a 10th-inning game-winner against the New York Mets on August 17th, propelling the Reds to the NL West championship.

His brother, Nathaniel King was a first baseman in the Minnesota Twins chain.
