Biographical Information[edit]
Hakaru Kuwano played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 12 years.
Kuwano was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 5th round of the 1967 NPB draft, and he only got 25 at-bats combined in his first three seasons. He played 70 games with a .224/.276/.290 batting line in 1971, but he was then sent back to the minors so he only played 34 games combined in the next two years. Kuwano went 10-for-59 in 1974, and he hit .245/.303/.364 in 79 games as Hanshin's backup left fielder in 1975. He recorded a .264/.301/.344 batting line in 1976, and he played 73 games with a .211/.291/.333 . batting line in 1977. Kuwano struggled in 1978 as his batting line was .172/.229/.250, and he was 9-for-43 in 1979. He had a 4-for-14 record in 1980, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kuwano hit .221/.280/.306 with 154 hits and 11 homers in 12 seasons in NPB.
