Biographical Information[edit]
Gunji Kimura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.
Kimura signed with the Toei Flyers in 1957, and he hit .159/.203/.262 in 55 games in his first season. He was 7-for-39 in 1958, and he recorded a .234/.269/.403 batting line with 4 triples in 1959. Kimura had a 8-for-57 record in 1960, but he only got one at-bat in 1961 and he was released. The Kintetsu Buffaloes signed him, and he hit .216/.283/.345 in 70 games in 1962. Kimura's batting line was .211/.272/.361 with 5 homers in 1963, then he went 17-for-85 in 1964. He played 92 games with a .205/.241/.305 batting line in 1965, and his batting line fell to .162/.197/.223 in 1966. Kimura was 1-for-9 in 1967, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kimura hit .191/.235/.303 with 221 hits and 18 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
