Biographical Information[edit]
Grantham Lambert pitched professionally from 1937 to 1941 and from 1945 to 1947. Seasons of note include 1938, when he went 18-14 with 20 complete games in 246 innings over 39 games for the Lexington Bees, 1939, when he went 15-8 between the Owensboro Oilers and Evansville Bees (for whom he didn't record a decision) and his final campaign, 1947, when he went 16-10 with 20 complete games and a 3.01 ERA in 242 innings over 39 games for the Ozark Eagles. Overall, he went 89-80 in 8 seasons.
In 1947, he managed the Eagles to a 65-74 record and a 6th place finish in the Alabama State League. In 1948, he was the first of two managers for the Enterprise Boll Weevils of the same league, being replaced partway through the campaign by Richard Bixby. It appears he managed only one future major leaguer during his tenure as skipper, outfielder Don Plarski, who played briefly for the Kansas City Athletics in 1955.
