Biographical Information[edit]

George Mangus played in the majors in 1912. In his first big league at-bat, he pinch hit for Pete Alexander. In February 1914 it was announced that he signed a contract with the 1914 St. Louis Browns, but he never appeared in the majors with them. He later signed a contract with Reading but ended up playing for New Haven. He was born in tiny Red Creek, NY, a village of just 490 people in a town (Wolcott) of just 3,200 people at the time.
