Biographical Information

George Anthanasiadis has played in the Bundesliga and for the Greek national team.

He was 1-for-3 with a walk as a college freshman, then hit .217/.400/.217 in 14 games as a sophomore in 2023 and was 2-for-11 with 2 walks as a junior. His senior year, he batted .193/.303/.211. He hit .255/.397/.294 for the Paderborn Untouchables in Germany. In the 2025 European Championship, he was the starting catcher for Greece, reliant as always on Greek-Americans. He struck out former major leaguer Dovydas Neverauskas of Lithuania his first time up. His first hit was off Eimantas Žičkus. He had one hit apiece against Switzerland and Italy. Facing Lithuania again in a relegation game, he went 3-for-4 with a homer, walk, two runs and two RBI, taking Žičkus deep, to finish the tourney at .429/.500/.643 with 4 runs in 4 games, tying Max Warren for the team lead in average and leading them in OPS (72 ahead of Dimitri Kourtis).
