Biographical Information[edit]
Fumitaka Ota played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Ota signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1954, and he spent his first three seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He led the Western League in homers in 1957, and he went 6-for-56 with the top team. Ota then had a 5-for-35 record in 1958, and he played 81 games with a .228/.293/.379 batting line in 1959. He recorded a .252/.300/.443 batting line in 75 games in 1960, but he only got one at-bat in 1961 and he was released. The Kokutetsu Swallows picked him up, but Ota hit .188/.233/.246 in 87 games in 1962 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Ota hit .209/.261/.347 with 104 hits and 14 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
