Biographical Information[edit]

Filip Čapka has pitched in the Extraliga and for the Czech national team.

He pitched one shutout inning for Draci Brno in the 2015 European Cup. [1] In the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he started in center for the Czechs, going 2 for 23 with 2 BB, 2 HBP and 2 R. He fielded .944. [2] He made his Extraliga debut, allowing one unearned run in three innings for Draci Brno. [3] He allowed two runs (one earned) in three innings in the 2016 Federations Cup. [4]

In '17, he was 0-2 with a 4.74 ERA for the Třebíč Nuclears and hit .208/.282/.260; he was also 1-0 with two shutout innings for Draci Brno. [5] He was with Draci Brno in 2018, going 1-0 with one unearned run in 4 1/3 IP. [6] In the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-1 with a 27.00 ERA, losing to Puerto Rico. [7] He lost to South Korea and Taiwan in the 2018 World University Championship, despite a 3.52 ERA. He tied for 2nd in the event in losses. [8] He then went to Wake Tech, which had featured fellow Czech players Martin Červinka and Martin Mužík the prior year. He was 2-1 with a save and a 8.15 ERA, striking out 23 in 17 2/3 IP. [9] He pitched one shutout inning in the 2019 CEB Cup, going 1-0. [10]

Čapka had a 2-1, 3.00 record for Draci Brno in 2020 after missing the 2019 Extraliga. [11] He had a 3.38 ERA for Draci Brno in the 2021 CEB Cup. [12] In that year's Extraliga, he was 4-1 with two saves and a 2.28 ERA, 10th in the league in ERA. [13] He was 1-1 with a 0.95 ERA in the 2021 European U23 Championship, beating Belgium and losing to Britain. [14]

He then made his debut for the senior Czech national team, in the 2021 European Championship. His first game, he relieved Marek Minařík in the third with a 1-0 deficit against title-bound the Netherlands. He started by retiring Jiandido Tromp but walked Roger Bernadina and gave up a single to Ray-Patrick Didder. After Juremi Profar flew out, Sharlon Schoop hit a two-run single. He gave up a single to Dwayne Kemp then got Sicnarf Loopstok to hit into a force to end the inning. In the 4th, he struck out John Polonius but also allowed a 3-run homer to Didder. Tomáš Duffek relieved him in the 5th with a 6-1 deficit. His other outing came against Croatia, succeeding Ondřej Satoria in the 6th with a 15-2 lead. He yielded hits to Marin Tadić and Philip Smith but got out of it as he retired Mario Manojlov on a fly, struck out Hrvoje Tadić and got Pavao Karin to fly out. His 15.00 ERA the highest on the Czech staff; Duffek was next at 8.10. [15]

In the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-1 with a 2.03 ERA, losing to Germany. [16]
