Biographical Information[edit]
Elvir Sadiković was the first catcher for a Slovenian national team in a European Championship. In their 1995 European Championship debut, he hit second behind Gasper Freyer. He was 0-for-3 against Italy's Dante Carbini before being replaced by Matjaz Peternel. He was 1-for-19 with a walk and a run for those Euros, handling 13 chances error-free. Among catchers, he was 4th in fielding - Luigi Carrozza, Jamel Boutagra and Andrey Artamonov were also perfect but in more chances. [1] In the 1999 European Championship, he hit .238/.273/.238 and fielded .893 for Slovenia. He tied Matej Berginc for the team lead with five hits. [2] He was still active in Slovenia as of 2016. [3]
