Biographical Information[edit]
Ellen Ahrndt played second base for the South Bend Blue Sox in 1944. She appeared in 3 games for them and went hitless in 3 at-bats. When the Blue Sox played the Racine Belles in Ahrndt's hometown, she was given an ovation and The Dunmore Corporation helped sponsor an event at the field called "Babe Ahrndt Night."
She said her reason for not returning for another year was due to the fact that she didn't get much playing time.
She died on her 87th birthday in 2009.
