Biographical Information[edit]

Edward McLaughlin was a National League umpire in 1929, working a full slate of 155 games in his only season. He had what must have been a particularly rough game on July 9th, as he ejected seven members of the Cincinnati Reds that day, two for protesting a called third strike, and the others for bench jockeying.

He had begun umpiring in the South Atlantic League in 1927 and the Southern Association in 1928. After the National League, he was in the Pacific Coast League from 1930 to 1932, and the in the American Association in 1933 and 1934. After that, he was a scout for various teams.
