Biographical Information[edit]

Ed Kelly was a left-handed pitcher from Dedham, MA. He played in Dedham in 1890, then was with North Easton, MA to begin 1891. He moved from there to the club sponsored by John Morrill[1] and then finished the season with Portland, ME in the New England League[2]. He signed with Lowell, MA to begin 1892[3]. In 1894 he was given a trial again by Portland[4], but was released due to a sore arm early in the season[5].

In between league stints he advertised himself as being available to pitch as E. F. Kelly of Dedham[6][7]. He was at times confused with Edward J. Kelley, a Portland pitcher who was also on the 1891 Portland team, though the two were on the team at different times.
