Biographical Information[edit]

Douglas Matumoto was one of five Matumotos on the Brazilian national team in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, alongside brother Silvio Matumoto and cousins Jô Matumoto, Edson Matumoto and William Matumoto. [1] The 17-year-old was 0 for 4 with a walk and handled one assist at third base, where he backed up William. He also allowed 2 runs in 2/3 IP. [2] He was 3-1 with a 1.83 ERA and .7 WHIP in the 1996 World Junior Championship. Brazil's other hurlers were a combined 0-2. He was 10th in ERA; among the top 10 in ERA, only Dong-chul Lee had more wins and he led with 17 K, one ahead of Matt White. [3]
