Biographical Information[edit]

Designated hitter Daylen Lile was the Washington Nationals' second round pick in the 2021 amateur draft; his signing bonus was $1.75 million. He hit .219/.363/.250 with no home runs, 10 RBI, 16 runs, 14 hits and 15 walks in 19 games for the FCL Nationals that year. He didn't play in 2022 due to elbow problems.

He returned to action in 2023 to have his first full season in the minors, splitting 106 games between the Fredericksburg Nationals of the Carolina League and the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the South Atlantic League. He had a very strong season in spite of the time missed, hitting .269/.355/.452 with 27 doubles, 10 triples and 9 homers. He scored 65 runs, drove in 66 and stole 23 bases. He had been only used at DH in his first season, but played all three outfield spots that year. He was named a Carolina League post-season All-Star. On March 2, 2024, playing in a Grapefruit League game with the Nationals against the Boston Red Sox, he suffered a scary injury when he tumbled over the right field wall in trying to make a catch and fell on his back. Members of the Sox bullpen immediately called for assistance and he had to be carted off the field. In spite of this, he did not miss any significant time, as he played 130 games that season between Wilmington and the AA Harrisburg Senators, with a line of .262/.347/.388 and scored 69 runs.

In 2025, he started the year with Harrisburg, and after hitting .319 in his first 21 games. On April 30th, he was promoted to AAA for the first time, heading to the Rochester Red Wings of the International League. Not only did he continue to hit well, but he kicked it up a notch, batting .361 with 13 runs in 18 games. On May 23rd, he received his next promotion, this one to Washington. He started in right field one day after top prospect Robert Hassell had made his own big league debut. He went 1 for 2 in a 4-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants, his first major league hit being a single off Landen Roupp in the 3rd inning. He ended up playing 91 games for Washington playing both right and left field and finished the year with the bang, as in September he was named both the National League Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month, after hitting .391 and slugging .772. He finished the season at .299 with 9 homers and 41 RBIs, for an OPS+ of 137.
