Biographical Information[edit]

David Tuttle played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues, reaching AAA.

Tuttle was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 34th round of the 1988 Amateur Draft out of high school, but he didn't sign and went to college. He represented the USA in the 1991 Pan American Games. The Cincinnati Reds selected him in the 6th round of the 1991 Amateur Draft, and he was 3-5 with a 3.88 ERA for the Charleston Wheelers in his first season. Tuttle went 8-3 with a 3.54 ERA for the Wheelers in 1993, but he struggled with the Winston-Salem Spirits as he had a 7-7 record with a 5.53 ERA in 15 starts. He improved to 5-2 with a 2.11 ERA for the Spirits in 1994, and he was 2-9 with a 4.50 ERA for the Chattanooga Lookouts.

The Palo Alto native went 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA for the Winston-Salem Warthogs in 1995, but he was 1-6 with a 7.01 ERA for the Lookouts. He moved to the Detroit Tigers system in the middle of the season, and he was 1-4 with a 2.90 ERA for the Lakeland Tigers. He became a full-time reliever in 1996, and he notched 21 saves with a 3.71 ERA and a 7-9 record for the Visalia Oaks. Tuttle collected 19 saves with a 2.43 ERA in 50 appearances for the independent High Desert Mavericks in 1997, and he signed with the Texas Rangers. His ERA was 2.69 in 36 games with 4 saves for the Tulsa Drillers in 1998, and he moved to the Arizona Diamondbacks system. Tuttle was 1-2 with a 6.84 ERA for the Tucson Sidewinders in '98, and he went 2-5 with a 6.51 ERA in 1999 there. He was 3-4 with a 4.80 ERA for the Sidewinders in 2000, and he also played 21 games with a 2.48 ERA for the El Paso Diablos. That was his last season as a professional player.
