Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Dan Cholowsky was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 39th overall pick in the supplemental first round of the 1991 amateur draft. He had previously been drafted in the 39th round of the 1988 amateur draft by the Cincinnati Reds coming out of high school. His minor league career lasted from 1991 to 1998. He reached AAA in 1995 and spent the remainder of his career at that level, in the systems of the Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies, but never was able to take the final step to the majors. While he played a number of defensive positions, including second base, third base, first base and catcher, he was not a particularly good hitter, either for average or power: he was in double digits in homers only twice, in 1994 and 1995, when he hit 14 homers both years.

After his playing career ended, he became a scout, signing Bradley Mills. As of 2026, he was working as a supervisor in the Reds' amateur scouting department.

Cholowsky's son, Roch Cholowsky, was a junior shortstop on the #1 UCLA squad in 2026 before becoming the First overall pick in the 2026 amateur draft.
