Biographical Information[edit]
Daisuke Maeda was drafted by the Orix BlueWave in the 4th round of the 2002 NPB draft, and he played 50 games with a .279/.353/.377 batting line in 2003. He recorded a .269/.342/.343 batting line in 51 games in 2004, and he was assigned to the Orix Buffaloes when the BlueWave merged with the Kintetsu Buffaloes. Maeda's spot as backup catcher was taken by Tetsuya Matoyama, and he only got 11 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. He hit .227/.279/.340 in 38 games in 2007, and he had a 6-for-49 record in 2008. Maeda then went 9-for-33 in 2009, and he batted .218/.279/.291 in 28 games in 2010. He was 1-for-20 in 2011, and he announced his retirement. Maeda later became the battery coach for Orix from 2015 to 2017.
Overall, Maeda hit .224/.287/.306 with 97 hits and 7 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
