Biographical Information

Daijiro Tanaka was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 3rd round of the 2006 NPB draft, but he only got 13 at-bats combined for the big club in his first four seasons. He was 6-for-39 in 2011, then he announced his retirement in 2012. The 1B/OF showed good pop in the minors; in 2009, he tied for 10th in the Eastern League with 11 HR (even with Shintaro Masuda and Jobu Morita) and was second with 60 RBI (a distant 35 behind the great Sho Nakata). He hit .256/.308/.385 over 462 minor league games.
