Biographical Information[edit]
Cornelius Agustus pitched for the Memphis Red Sox in 1927 and St. Louis Stars in 1937. He was one of six children born to Andrew and Luella Augustus. Cornelius is said to have had at least been educated at the elementary school level prior to his baseball career and outside of the game he worked as a porter for the Pullman Railway Company. He was drafted in World War II but ended up not having to do any service. After this, he lived a quiet life with his wife Leona and son Cornelius Jr. until his death in 1981.
