Biographical Information[edit]
Chutaro Seike played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Seike signed with the Eagles club in 1939, and he played 37 games with a .113/.182/.141 batting line in his first season. He also pitched 4 games with a 5.00 ERA that season. He then became their starting catcher in 1940, and he had a .162/.218/.183 batting line. Seike hit .176/.236/.227 in 81 games in 1941, and he left the team. He joined the Tokyu Flyers after World War II, and he was 15-for-69 in 1947. Seike then played 36 games with a .200/.231/.220 batting line in 1948, and he was released. The taiyo Whales signed him in 1950, but he was 20-for-72 and he announced his retirement. He later coached Uwajima Higashi High School.
Overall, Seike hit .180/.231/.209 with 162 hits and a homer in 6 seasons in NPB.
