Biographical Information[edit]

Ching-Wei Yu pitched in the CPBL for 3 years.

Yu was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the 2nd round of the 2006 CPBL Draft, but he missed his first two seasons due to injuries. He led the minor league with 8 holds in 2009, but his ERA was 5.75 in 23 games. He allowed 6 runs in 4 innings with the big club, then the Lions released him. Since the Brother Elephants lost most of their players due to a game-fixing scandal, they picked him up. However, Yu’s ERA was 7.78 in 6 games in 2010, then he announced his retirement.

Yu’s repertoire included a fastball (peak 93.2 mph), changeup, forkball and slider.

Overall, Yu was 1-2 with a 6.61 ERA, pitched 31 1/3 innings and struck out 10 in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
