Biographical Information[edit]

Chin-Wei Lin Wu has played in the CPBL and for the Taiwanese national team.

Lin Wu represented Taiwan in the 2016 U-15 Baseball World Cup, going 3-for-7 with 5 walks, a triple and four runs; he was 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA, defeating Mexico in his decision. [1] In the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he allowed three runs in 1 2/3 IP for the champs, losing to Adam Maier and Canada. [2] The CTBC Brothers picked him in the 5th round of the 2020 CPBL Draft, and he was the first CPBL player from the Green Island.[3] Lin Wu spent his first two seasons in the CPBL minor leagues, and he only had 5 at-bats in with big club in 2022. When the Brothers released Francisco Pena due to a lack of starting pitchers (they wanted to use their foreign roster spot for a foreign hurler rather than a batter), Lin Wu was named the main backup catcher. He hit .250/.268/.400 in 2023. He was also selected into the 2023 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-2, with a single against Hao-Chun Chiu in Game 1.[4]

Lin Wu then made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. His only appearance was against Australia in Bronze Medal game. He was the starting catcher, and he went 0-for-2 with a walk (from Kai-Noa Wynyard) in the 4th inning. Taiwan beat Australia to win Bronze.[5]
