Biographical Information[edit]
Chi-yong An has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization for 12 years.
An was drafted by the LG Twins in the first round of the 1998 KBO draft, but he spent his first 5 seasons primarily in the minor league; he only got 126 at-bats combined with the big club. He finally got some chances in 2008, and he hit .295/.354/.441 with 7 homers and 27 doubles that season. An was 2nd in doubles, tied with Sung-hwan Cho, Seok-min Park and Tae-kyun Kim. He also hit for a cycle on June 26, 2008. An had a .237/.320/.335 batting line in 2009, and the Twins traded him with Dong-soo Choi, Yong-gwan Kwon and Jae-young Lee to the SK Wyverns for Sun-kyu Kim, Hyun-joon Park and Yo-seop Yoon.
The Seoul native missed most of the 2010 season due to a right hand injury, and he played 93 games with a .311/.426/.511 batting line and 12 homers in 2011 after returning. He went 2-for-16 in the 2011 Korean Series, and the Samsung Lions beat the Wyverns in 5 games. An slumped to .222/.330/.374 in 2012, then he played 17 games with a .244/.311/.317 batting line in 2013. He stayed in the minors for the entire 2014 season, and he announced his retirement. He then became a broadcaster for the KBS from 2015 to 2020.
Overall, An hit .256/.344/.388 with 314 hits and 32 homers in 12 seasons in the KBO.
