Biographical Information[edit]

Hung represented Taiwan in the 1989 World Youth Championship, 1990 World Youth Championship, 1992 Junior World Championship, 1994 Baseball World Cup and 1994 Asian Games. In the '94 Cup, he was 6 for 14 with 3 doubles, a homer, four runs and five RBI. He had 13 chances error-free, backing up Wen-Yu Wu at 2B and Chin-Fan Ho at 1B. The Chinatrust Whales signed Hung when they were founded in 1997. Hung didn't played well in his rookie year, and only batted .216/.266/.284 in 35 games. Hung soon adapted to pro baseball, hitting .270/.344/.405 with 10 dingers in 1998, and participated in the All-Star Game for the first time in his career. The Taipei native had a huge improvement in 1999. He recorded a .333/.408/.579 batting line with 13 homers, led the league in batting average, ranked 6th in RBI (46) and 4th in home runs (13). Hung made into the roster of Taiwan for the 1999 Asian Championship, but his batting condition was not good. He even struck out four times against Daisuke Matsuzaka of Japan.

Hung hit .276/.352/.434 with 8 dingers in 2000 and was selected into the All-Star Game again. In 2001, Hung was arrested due to a positive result of a drug test. He still batted .258/.357/.440 with 7 dingers. The all-star slugger bounced back in 2002, when he blasted career-high 14 homers with a .303/.392/.505 batting line. He was 6th in homers, 7th in RBI (56), 10th in hits (87), 7th in batting average and 6th in walks. He crushed a solo shot off Ching-Li Wang in the Game 4 of 2002 Taiwan Series, but couldn't stop the Brothers from winning the championship. Hung extended his good condition in 2003, batting .309/.388/.485 with 9 home runs. However, due to the drug issue, the Whales released Hung after this season, and it ended his career.

Overall, Hung had hit .288/.368/.463 and 62 home runs in seven seasons in the CPBL.
