Team History[edit]
Following the 2024 season, the Bowie Baysox of the AA Eastern League rebranded themselves as the Chesapeake Baysox. Contrary to other similar moves around the minors, this was not prompted by a change of ballpark or affiliation, but was simply done to attach the team to a wider area than simply the small town of Bowie, MD. They continued to play at Prince George's Stadium and remained an affiliate of the nearby Baltimore Orioles (although they are based approximatively halfway between Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC, so they could also be an interesting candidate for an affiliation with the Washington Nationals).
The team also adopted an alternative identity as the Chesapeake Oyster Catchers, highlighting their home area's reputation for producing prime seafood.
