Biographical Information

Catcher Chase Barbary is the son of Travis Barbary, the grandson of Eddie Barbary, and the great grandson of Red Barbary.

Barbary played college ball at the schools noted above from 2016-2019. After the latter season he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an undrafted free agent. He spent 2019-2021 in the Dodgers organization and a final playing year in the Detroit Tigers minor league system. Barbary appeared in just 22 games in his career, all at catcher.

In late July 2023, Barbary joined the Detroit Tigers as a third bullpen catcher for the remainder of the season. There is a report that he was an assistant coach for Powdersville High School in 2024, but this could not be confirmed. The Cleveland Guardians hired Barbary as a development coach with the Columbus Clippers in 2025 and bench coach of the Hill City Howlers in 2026.
