Biographical Information[edit]

Chad Thornhill played in the minor leagues and for the USA national team.

Thornhill was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 37th round of the 1995 Amateur Draft, and he hit .250/.389/.311 in 55 games for the Watertown Indians in his first season, fielding .978 at 2B. He slumped to .181/.306/.250 for the Columbus RedStixx in 1996, and he left the Indians system. Thornhill signed with the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks, and he played 84 games with a .284/.388/.319 batting line in 1997 while fielding .952 at short. He collected 16 doubles with a .289/.368/.400 batting line for the Sioux City Explorers in 1998, and he hit .338/.426/.420 in 1999. Thornhill also played 39 games with a .293/.384/.367 batting line for the Winnipeg Goldeyes that year. He was named the Northern League All-Star shortstop. [1] He then represented the USA in the 1999 Intercontinental Cup, when the US sent a team of indy league stars. Starting at short, he eked out a .100/.206/.133 line but handled 32 chances error-free. [2] Thornhill had a .255/.359/.332 batting line with the New Jersey Jackals in 2000, but he only played one game with the Goldeyes in 2001 and he announced his retirement. He had hit .271/.374/.343 as a pro, fielding .949 at short.
